the Lords Army

       Hello! Are you looking to join up? You should be! There is a good side and bad side to most anything. There is a good fight to be fought, and there is always a winner and then a looser in a fight! Be on the winning side! God never looses! That being said, I encourage you to:

       We are in a fight with the Devil. The Devil hates God. He is out to destroy us ESPECIALLY young people. But there is HOPE!! God has the answer for everything. First and foremost we need to:

Lets look at Amos 5:14:

Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken.

       You CAN/SHOULD live a life for God. What is a Christian? A Christian is one who is Christ-like yes? So, IF we want to live for Christ, and be LIKE Christ, then we need to go to the rule book, the place with ALL the answers.

       For the sake of clarification here, we will be using the KING JAMES BIBLE.I have included the whole verses here rather than just the references to enable you to follow along. It would be best if you were to have your Bible open and mark the verses and 'note' them as you go.

Ready? Okay let's go, Let's take a look at a few more verses:

Hebrews 4:15-16 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Psalms 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Romans 12:9 Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

       Usually when we are struggling with sin in our life (that which we know is wrong in God's eyes) we are hugging it.. we are cleaving unto it.. right? it is something that we enjoy doing, something that we love. Something that even though we know it is wrong we do it regardless. So, let us take a look at:

       Let me ask you a very important question. What is it you know most about? Is it the 'lingo' on the streets or the people you hang with? Is it the 'words' to the music you hold in high esteem? Or maybe the members of the group that perform? Is it the boy/girl in your history class or maybe at the place you work? Is it fashion? Is it sports?

       Some us would rather go backwards after getting saved; since we all know that once we are saved we are sealed to the day of redemption. BUT why are you going BACKWARDS??? Look at what the Word of God tells us:

 Mic 3:2 Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;

       Pretty gross huh? Yep! Young people you need to be GREAT CHRISTIANS FOR GOD... NOT so you will look good ........ THEN WHY you ask????

       Some right now are thinking .. But I'm so young... Look what the Word of God says about that;

1Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

       Wow huh? This verse says very plainly that God knew you would feel the way you do, that you would use your age, as an excuse for doing wrong, or not doing very much when it comes to the things of God. We are ALL without excuse when it comes to serving God. Let's not be a bunch of whimps!!! Devil got you down? Then FIGHT BACK! Listen!, it is not enough to LOOK good, take off the costume/mask, quit using excuses or better yet stop 'playing' Christian and BE ONE!! If the problem is that you just don't know what the Lord would have you to do, while your waiting ;-) do something to make the devil mad!

       So just how should you fight back you ask? The best way to beat the devil is to DO MORE FOR GOD!!! Pray more, read your BIBLE more, Get involved with what is going on in your church! Beat the devil at his own game! Show him you won't be beaten! Show him you LOVE THE GOOD!!

       You need to make a decision today to serve God! When it comes to the TV programs you watch on TV... Would you still be watching them if Jesus was sitting with you on that couch? "Everyone else watches them" you say. So What!!!

       How about what you do while your on the computer?? Could He sit at your side and be comfortable? Or maybe for you it is the friends you "hang" with. Maybe it is the Music you listen to... Just because you like it, just because everyone else is doing it... Just because "it's not as bad as what so and so is doing.....remember....right or wrong, good or bad.. make a choice to;

So what if everyone else is doing it! Remember, God ISN"T !!

       How about music? Oh boy, now I hit some nerves didn't I? I don't speak of this lightly, because I HAVE BEEN THERE DONE THAT! My life was filled with Rock and Roll for years! I shouldn't have to tell you why it is wrong, but for the sake of argument I will anyway. Music is suppose to edify God not the hearer. Music is suppose to move the heart NOT The feet. Music should make one think on how great God is, not on how good it makes us feel.

       Christian Rock? NO SUCH THING! "But" you say, "The words are Christian" Let me say this to you.... A real Christian musician (singer or instrumentalist) MINISTERS; he or she never "performs". He or she never deserves, needs, covets (or should have) any applause. If anyone applauds, let it be the One who was magnified and glorified. A real Christian musician (instrument or vocal) is deeply concerned with conveying a MESSAGE, not a voice, or a technique, or a personality! This being true, then we need to LISTEN with that intent. NOT to feel good, but to THINK about God. NOT to FEEL good But to Praise God. NOT to feel good but to magnify the One who is worthy. Concerts? for what? For whos glory? For whos benefit?

       Think about this person that you are following in music! I can go waaaay back with some names here, names that my parents would remember, names that my piers would remember well. Names like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Elvis Presley, Daryll Hall, Janis Joplin, Jimmi Hendrix, ... They were thought of as 'talented' yes? perhaps they were, BUT what was their life like in private? Did they live like they knew WHO gave them their talent? Whether it be voice or instrument? Did they live giving honor and respect and credit to WHO made it all possible? Do they deserve your support? Would God be pleased with the way they used their talents? How about that "Christian" group/singer? How do they live their life? How do they appear on their 'covers"? I have been amazed at the posters I have seen at Christian book stores promoting "Christian Music". Take the title off and that poster wouldn't look like "Christian anything". Just because something sounds 'cool', looks 'cool', doesn't make it RIGHT!

       Okay, let's move on. How about your devotions? Did you ever stop to think that EVERY missed devotion time is a time where you just took steps AWAY from God? Did you ever stop to think that what God had for you today in your reading (that you decided you just didn't have the time for) HE WILL NOT give you tomorrow? Are you really willing to take that chance again? Decide TODAY, RIGHT NOW, that you will either read for a certain length of time or a certain amount of pages EACH day! NOW stick to it! Did you know that if you purposed to read just 10 pages a day in your Bible, that you could read THROUGH the Bible 3 times in one year? Wow huh?

       How about making a point to underline in red all the promises you find as you go along? Then maybe in Green all the warnings that are given! Make it YOUR Bible, YOUR letter from God. Learn to LOVE hearing from Him, Make it PERSONAL! Will you always understand EVERYTHING you read? Probably not, but in time God will give you the answers you are seeking. Just read it! Believe it! Love it! Let God take care of the rest!! That Book is alive friend! One of the most important verses to remember in the Bible is this:

Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

       Did you get that? Jesus IS the word. That Bible is God with us! It is His heart! It is HIM, want to be close to God? Want to have the power to overcome sin? Want the answers to problems? IT'S IN THE BOOK!

       How about the way you dress? Don't push the border line with modesty! Fellows this goes for you too! BUT you say...."God looks on the inside", YES this is true!

"...for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart." 1Sa 16:7b

       You see what else it says there? Man looketh on the 'outward'. I'm sure you have heard the old saying... "Your clothes say it for you"! Well they do! So let me ask you this... What do your clothes say about you? That your 'IN' style? That your 'like everyone else' I sure hope not, I sure hope that you dress 'as unto the Lord'. Fellows, bring up the pants! Wear your hair like a man! Turn your hat around the way it should be! Girls, bring down the hem lines! Look like a lady without having to show the world just what you have under those clothes! You don't need 10 rings to look like a lady! When someone looks at you, their attention should be drawn to your face, not the body! What are you saying w/o ever opening your mouth? Do you look like a child of God to those that never speak to you? Or do you look like the rest of the world that is going to hell and needs God? When someone is searching for God, they don't look in their own 'back yard' they know that He is not there already! They look for someone that is NOT like them, not in DRESS not in LIFESTYLES. See what I mean? You might be thinking... Jesus surrounded himself with sinners, yes, true, to win them, to teach them, BUT they knew He was different. Are you? Are you representing Jesus to a lost and dying world in your attitude and appearance?

       How about Rebellion with your parents? Did you know that it is NOT your job to straighten them out? Are they perfect? NOPE! However, the Bible makes no exception to the following verses:

Eph 6:1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Col 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

       It is NEVER right to rebel against your folks! The Bible says to honor them. You will only be hurting yourself in not doing so. Do you know what Honor is? IT IS DOING RIGHT WHEN NO ONE IS LOOKING! IT IS DOING RIGHT FOR RIGHTS SAKE! It is doing what you KNOW they would want you to do when they are not looking! It is NOT doing what you KNOW they would not want you to do , when they are not there to see you!

       Might I say one more thing in this area? If you don't have any desire in this area of your life or you keep trying and it fails over and over again, you may not be SAVED!!! Better be sure!

Be sure!

Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

       So, how about school? Are you giving your best? Or just taking up space? Getting by? The Bible says:

Ec 9:10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;

       Parents? Honor them, by doing right! By not taking for granted the many things they provide for you! Church?Love church! Love being involved in what goes on there! Don't wait for someone to 'bless' you, BE A BLESSING TO OTHERS THERE! Don't judge your church by what it offers to you as a young person, God doesn't say, Go to a church to be entertained! He gives us the Church (a body of believers) to encourage each other, to gather around His Word! Pastor? You had better love this man! In prayer, in attitude! He is called of God. Encourage Him by taking the time to shake his hand, be the one he sees everytime the doors are open. Be the one that says with a HUGE smile... "that is MY pastor!" ARE YOU Thankful??
